ISLAMABAD — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement following what he described as lengthy and intensive negotiations aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.
Sharif said the formal signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 19 in Switzerland, where officials from both countries are expected to finalize the accord in the presence of international mediators.
According to the Pakistani leader, the agreement includes an immediate and permanent ceasefire covering all military operations and areas of confrontation, including fronts linked to regional conflicts in Lebanon.
He said mediators would facilitate a series of follow-up meetings during the coming week to oversee implementation measures and address remaining issues between the two sides.
Neither Washington nor Tehran immediately provided detailed public comments on the reported agreement.
