LAS ANOD — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is scheduled to visit Las Anod, the capital of the North Eastern regional administration, on August 1, as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen engagement with regional authorities and local communities.
The visit is expected to include meetings with North Eastern administration officials, traditional elders, community representatives, and other stakeholders to discuss political, security, and development priorities in the region.
Prime Minister Barre’s trip comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to enhance cooperation with regional administrations, improve coordination between government institutions, and support the development of effective governance structures across Somalia.
During the visit, discussions are expected to focus on strengthening public institutions, improving security coordination, expanding access to government services, and supporting reconstruction and development initiatives in the area.
The Prime Minister is also expected to highlight the importance of national unity, inclusive governance, and cooperation between federal and regional authorities in addressing Somalia’s broader challenges, including security threats and economic development needs.
The North Eastern administration has been working to establish and strengthen its governance framework, while the Federal Government has emphasized the importance of building a unified national system based on cooperation among Somalia’s federal member states and administrations.
The upcoming visit represents a significant step in increasing direct engagement between Mogadishu and local leadership in Las Anod, with officials describing it as part of broader efforts to promote stability, reconciliation, and sustainable development.
