ADDIS ABABA — The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has called for stronger regional coordination to improve resilience against climate and other shocks affecting the Horn of Africa.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion on enhancing resilience, organized by the Islamic Development Bank and partners, IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu said climate-related shocks “do not respect borders” and require collective action across member states.

He urged governments and regional partners to deepen cooperation, stressing that joint responses remain the most effective way to address recurring environmental and economic challenges in the region.
