TEHRAN — Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has rejected what he called US President Donald Trump’s “derogatory language” toward Iran, saying such remarks cannot undermine the country’s national pride, resilience or global standing.
Speaking in response to Trump’s comments, Araghchi said Iran does not respond to verbal attacks with similar rhetoric, but instead relies on actions that demonstrate strength and determination.
“Iranians do not answer vulgarity with vulgarity, but with action: fearlessly and with great valor,” Araghchi said.
The foreign minister emphasized that Iran’s approach was based on defending its national interests and maintaining its sovereignty in the face of external pressure. He said attempts to weaken Iran through political statements or intimidation would not change the country’s position.
Araghchi’s remarks come as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high, with disagreements continuing over Iran’s nuclear activities, regional policies, economic sanctions and broader security issues in the Middle East.
Relations between the two countries have been marked by decades of confrontation, including periods of diplomatic engagement and renewed disputes. US sanctions against Iran have continued to affect its economy, while Iranian officials have repeatedly said the country will resist foreign pressure.
The latest exchange of statements highlights the continuing rivalry between Washington and Tehran, as both sides maintain opposing positions on regional security and Iran’s role in international affairs.
Araghchi said Iran remains committed to protecting its interests and responding to challenges with what he described as confidence, resilience and national resolve.
